Heidi and Jacqui believe Golf is a gift of a lifetime and both consider the exposure to the game of golf one of the most special gifts their parents ever gave them. They love to give back to the sport that paved the way for their lives by teaching and training others. They believe GOLF mimics life in that it supports virtues such as respect, honesty and camaraderie. The game builds character strengths that transcend all ages and skill levels.
Heidi and Jacqui grew up in San Diego and love the California lifestyle. Growing up in the 1970’s in coastal communities they had similar, yet different junior golf experiences. Heidi Duback and Jacqui’s sister Karen were friends and foes in their formative golfing days. Heidi grew up and played golf with her family and junior golf friends at La Jolla Country Club while the Nicoletti Sisters practiced and played their early golf at the Stardust Country Club in Mission Valley (now Riverwalk property). Both of them were top golfers in their age divisions year after year and the San Diego Junior Golf Association was their extended family of friends each summer. Many of these “golfing friends” are still special friends to this day!
There was no high school girls’ golf when Heidi and Jacqui attended and both girls played a major role on their Boys’ Golf Team. Jacqui was one of three girls and was captain for the Point Loma Pointers (1980). Since high school was only grades 10-12 at the time she just missed Heidi’s play for the then rival high school La Jolla Vikings.
Women’s College golf was just starting to take off and Title IX enabled us to continue their love affair with golf and sends them on journeys of a lifetime! Just as their competitive paths never crossed in junior golf, they may have met up in college as they played at rival universities UCLA & USC, although they don’t recall meeting. Jacqui had a full scholarship to USC, played for the Women of Troy for four years, graduated with a degree in Sports Information, Broadcasting and is a Trojan for life. Heidi played a little collegiate golf at UCLA, but also ran FILL IN. Many find it amusing to find the Lady Trojan and the Lady Bruin paired up for friendship and business.
Heidi and Jacqui have come to their teaching programs via very different paths through golf and offer a wide variety of “skills” training, not only in stroke and form, but also in the ways of the game and how it applies to the discipline of life. After graduation Jacqui played professionally on mini tours for a couple of years before launching her playing career on the LPGA Japan Tour. Heidi took on the business of golf after a little hiatus from the game. Both of them love to travel and enjoy the fact that golf is available worldwide! While Jacqui was playing golf globally, Heidi was learning how to grow the game under the tutelage of Tom Addis III, former president of the PGA.
Both Heidi and Jacqui are married, have two children and their favorite time is spent when the whole family is able to golf together.
